Akaso Brave 8 Action Camera: 4K60fps & 8K Time-Lapse Power

High-Performance 4K Action Video with 48MP Photos and 8K Time-Lapse

At the core of the Akaso Brave 8 is a high-performance 1/2-inch Sony CMOS sensor featuring Quad Pixel technology. By merging sub-pixels into larger effective pixel structures, this sensor captures significantly more light and detail, resulting in superior dynamic range, reduced noise, and exceptional image clarity during dynamic motion shots.

Complementing the image sensor, the camera features a custom optical design comprising a 9-layer glass lens system. This precision setup includes 4 aspherical lenses engineered specifically to minimize spherical distortion, control edge flare, and maintain sharp resolution from the center to the periphery of the frame.

Optical & Sensor Highlights

• 1/2″ Sony CMOS Sensor: Leverages Quad Pixel technology for improved light intake, richer detail, and clearer action capture.

• Custom 9-Layer Glass Optics: Combines 9 glass elements—including 4 aspherical lenses—to eliminate optical distortion and maximize edge-to-edge sharpness.

The Akaso Brave 8 records high-bitrate 4K video at up to 60 fps in MP4 format, supporting both standard H.264 and high-efficiency H.265 compression codecs. For still photography, it captures ultra-detailed 48 MP photos in JPEG or uncompressed JPEG+RAW formats, preserving rich surface texture and edge resolution even when cropping or zooming in post-production. To suit varying shooting conditions, adjustable Field of View (FOV) controls allow users to quickly alter the perspective and maximize frame coverage.

Designed for operational versatility, the camera features a dual color display setup:

• Rear Touchscreen (2.0 Inches): An intuitive, high-response panel for effortless menu navigation, setting toggles, and instant media playback.
• Front Display (1.2 Inches): A dedicated preview screen providing accurate real-time framing for self-recording, vlogging, and action shots.

Key Video & Display Features

• 4K @ 60fps Action Video: Smooth, high-frame-rate recording leveraging H.264 and H.265 codecs for optimized storage and visual performance.
• 48 MP Stills in RAW+JPEG: High-megapixel capture giving creators extensive latitude for color grading and detailed cropping.
• Selectable Field of View (FOV): Flexible framing settings to switch between ultra-wide perspectives and tight, distortion-free angles.
• Dual Color Screens: Integrates a 2.0″ rear touch panel with a 1.2″ front preview screen tailored for solo creators and action shots.

The Akaso Brave 8 features native waterproofing up to 10 meters (33 feet) without requiring an external protective case. This built-in water resistance delivers maximum convenience during water sports, beach trips, waterfall excursions, or sudden downpours on outdoor shoots.

For creative filmmaking, the camera incorporates powerful time-manipulation recording modes:

• 8K Time-Lapse Video: Captures high-resolution, accelerated time-lapse sequences in stunning 8K detail.
• 16x Slow Motion (Up to 400 fps): High-speed capture at up to 400 frames per second allows creators to slow down fast-paced action by up to 16 times while preserving ultra-crisp motion detail.

Versatile Shooting & Environmental Resistance

• Natively Waterproof to 10m (33ft): Ruggedized chassis allows full submersion down to 10 meters without the added bulk of an external housing.
• 8K Resolution Time-Lapse: Ultra-high-definition interval shooting for breathtaking landscape and transition footage.
• Ultra-Fast 16x Slow-Mo (400 fps): High-frame-rate recording engineered for sports, liquid splashes, and rapid action analysis.

The camera delivers outstanding image stabilization powered by SuperSmooth technology, an advanced 6-axis Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) algorithm configured through the AKASO GO App. By actively analyzing and correcting motion blur across six axes of movement, SuperSmooth produces fluid, gimbal-like video even during high-impact activities such as mountain biking, off-road driving, and extreme sports.

Image Stabilization Highlights

• SuperSmooth 6-Axis EIS: Advanced electronic image stabilization eliminates heavy jitter and camera shake in intense action environments.
• AKASO GO App Integration: Seamless configuration and firmware updates allow creators to fine-tune stabilization modes and calibrate footage directly on their smartphones.

The Akaso Brave 8 includes a 2.4GHz wireless remote control equipped with a built-in LCD screen for real-time status monitoring, alongside Voice Control technology supported in 7 languages for executing hands-free commands during active shoots.

Smart internal processing features AI Face Detection for optimized auto-exposure and framing, built-in wind noise reduction, and support for an external microphone input to capture elevated audio.

Power is supplied by two high-capacity 1,550 mAh rechargeable batteries, each providing up to 90 minutes of continuous 4K video recording (180 minutes total runtime). To sustain high-bitrate recording, the camera incorporates an advanced thermal dissipation cooling structure that prevents thermal throttling, safeguards internal components, and prolongs the device’s operational lifespan.

Smart Features & Power System Highlights

• 2.4GHz Remote Control with LCD Display: Wireless wrist/gear remote with integrated screen for instant mode checks.
• 7-Language Voice Control: Enables hands-free camera operation during sports, driving, or solo vlogging.
• AI Face Metering & Wind Noise Reduction: Intelligently balances facial exposure while filtering out ambient wind noise.
• Dual 1,550 mAh Battery System: Includes two batteries offering up to 180 minutes of combined 4K recording time (90 minutes per battery).
• Thermal Dissipation Architecture: Built-in heat management system prevents overheating during extended high-resolution 4K sessions.
• External Microphone Compatibility: Supports external mic connections for clear, professional audio acquisition.
